Window Shopping is a temporary window box installation of ceramic sculptures by local artist Jessica Ninci. The sculptures are ceramic recreations of objects found and purchased from local Galveston shops - mainly unique items from antique stores, thrift shops, and small local businesses. Some are faithful recreations, while some are inspired by the originals but then adapted to their new existence in clay. In addition to providing a reference and inspiration for the ceramic sculptures, the original objects were entirely sourced locally - providing funds to the local economy, specifically small businesses. The installation will be displayed to the public at 2510 Market Street, Galveston through October 15th, 2022. This installation was generously funded and supported by a Galveston Public Art Grant from the Cultural Arts Commission of the City of Galveston. A risograph zine documenting the ceramic objects and their originals side by side was published with the help of Dan Schmahl of Super Hit Press. The zine will be available at the artist talk on October 8th, 2022 at 7pm during Galveston's Art Walk.
